In November 2005, ENTER issued a first report on the trends and outlook for the development of digital terrestrial television (DTT) in Spain. Since then, a number of milestones have been reached in the development of the regulations with which the market must comply, as well as in the evolution of the expectations and decisions of its players, which suggests that an update is necessary. Accordingly, this report reviews the current status of the alternatives to digital TV: DTT, cable, satellite, IPTV and mobile TV. It analyses the trends and technologies with the greatest potential for affecting the future development of the medium and finally offers a number of conclusions and recommendations aimed at ensuring the development of DTT in accordance with the ambitious targets set at the beginning and the great expectations it has caused.
