This report contains the latest 'ICT Development Index' (IDI), which compares the evolution of information and communications technologies (ICT) in 154 countries, combining indicators that measure the access to, use and knowledge of ICT (homes that have a computer, number of broadband Internet subscribers, literacy rates, etc.). According to the IDI, of the ten most advanced ICT economies in the world, eight are situated in northern Europe. Sweden heads the ranking for the second year running, followed by Luxembourg, Republic of Korea and Denmark. Spain is in twenty-fifth position and has climbed one place in comparison with 2007.
